Exuma Land and Sea Park
Exploring the Exuma Land and Sea park
My post content
The Exuma Land and Sea park was one of the first sea parks in the world being established in 1959. It is an amazing place where you can see an amazing biodiversity across land and the sea. We spent 3 days exploring it. We started exploring some of the many reefs and caves in the park. The most impressive cave required you do dive underwater to get into this huge cavern in the rocks. We then explored natural pools that are fed by water during high tide. We moved to Park Headquarters in Wardrick Wells. This could be the most beautiful anchorage in the Bahamas. We saw sharks, sea turtles, rays, barracudas all off the back of the boat. In one exciting experience I had my GoPro off the back of the boat filming the shark only to have him attempt to eat it. Fortunately it was attached to a 5 ft stick however it no longer seems to work! The island has numerous hikes and the most famous is Boo Boo hill that is apparently haunted from sailors that perished on the reef outside. As an offering sailors cave their name in driftwood and leave it at the top of the hill. We could have spent even more time here but had to move on to our next stop Staniel Cay.
